2012 Nissan GT-R has a new look, new colors, new wheel designs and most importantly for fans of pure power, more horsepower under the hood. In addition, the "Black Edition" a unique new seats, interior colors and wheels join Premium GT-R models.
The 2012 Nissan GT-R VR38DETT sophisticated 3.8-liter V6 twin turbo is now producing 530 horsepower (versus the previous 485 horsepower) and 488 lb-ft of torque (versus the previous 434 lb-ft) - the result of modifying the turbocharger boost pressure, valve timing and air mixture ratio, and through reducing barriers to entry by increasing the air inlet pipe diameter. In addition, exhaust air resistance is reduced through the use of an enlarged section of exhaust pipe.
Aerodynamic GT-R has been improved for 2012 with downforce increased by approximately 10% and the coefficient of drag reduced to 0.26 (from 0.27). Stability is enhanced with enlarged fascia and grille openings, which also helps reduce air resistance inside the engine compartment. Volume of air passing through the radiator and cool the front brakes are also increasing.
The front fascia has a fresh new aggressive double rectifier fins and new integrated high intensity LED running lights. Additional plated parts are used for interior lighting panel, increase the visual presence of a powerful car. The redesigned rear fascia and has a lower center of gravity than the previous design, created using the bottom asculpted and extended length.
The new GT-R was designed with lighter weight and more rigid forged aluminum 20-inch wheels, once again produced by UV ®, help improve suspension response. Knurling on the wheels be modified to help keep the tires from slipping around the wheels under heavy acceleration or braking.
